About
Hi, I’m Justin.
I make apps and tools in my spare time, for myself first and for anyone who wants the same thing. This site is where they live, along with what I write about making them.
By day I’m a product manager and product owner. For years I have worked on digital products where search, conversation and content meet: from chatbots and service content to the conversational search in a banking app, and now on making security easy to use. That work taught me what makes software trustworthy, and what makes it pleasant.
At home I keep my own notes, photos, mail and reading on servers I run myself. That is a good way to keep your data your own, and a bad way to get nice apps: most self-hosted software lives in a browser tab. So I started building the apps I wanted on my iPhone, iPad and Mac. This is a hobby, not a business: an enthusiast making things, carefully.
What I make
Two apps, and the tools along the way.
The apps are on the App Store. The tools that solve one problem for me, and could solve it for you, go on GitHub with their source.
Triquid Notes
A native home for your Trilium notes on iPhone, iPhone Duo, iPad and Mac. It works offline, captures fast, and summarizes with Apple Intelligence on the device. Free.
Tri Clipper
A Safari web clipper that saves articles, selections and highlights into your own Trilium server, with templates that decide where every note lands.
Open source
ZoomCheck, Presort and KOReader → Obsidian: small tools for your own devices, free to use, read and improve.
What you can expect
The same promises for everything I make.
Your server, your dataThe apps talk to the server you point them at, and to nothing else. No accounts with me, no service in between.
Nothing collectedNo analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers in the apps.
Native, not wrappedBuilt with Apple’s own frameworks, so they feel at home on your devices.
On the deviceWhere the apps use Apple Intelligence for their own features, that work happens on your device.
Questions, ideas or bugs: info@justinmeijer.nl. I read everything.
